Time: June 16 to 19, 2009
Place: Budapest, Hungary
Special thanks to: the Organizing Committee of Duna International Folk Art Festival
Duna International Folk Art Festival, established in 1995, is held in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, and its surrounding cities in June every year. The 12th Duna International Folk Art Festival lasted 8 days, with the main activities of theatrical performance, parade performance and outdoor performance. In addition to Budapest, their art groups also carried out performances in the surrounding areas of Budapest. The most important activity of the Art Festival is the parade performance in Vaci Street, a famous pedestrian street in Budapest. The stage for outdoor performance was put up in a central square at the southernmost end of the pedestrian street. When the night fell, the art groups performed there by turns, attracting a lot of citizens and forming an exciting atmosphere.
When the group arrived in Budapest, the Art Festival was in its busiest stage. However, Janos, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Duna International Folk Art Festival and Ms. Andria, the executive director of the Organizing Committee still spared some time to give us a warm welcome.
There are many art festivals and activities in Hungary, especially in summer. Hungary Summer Art Festival and Hungary Island Festival are among the most famous ones. These performance groups not only perform in the capital city Budapest but also make tours to participate in many activities including various kinds of music festival, folk art festival and international folk dance festival held in other cities of Hungary. In addition to the main performance fields, the artists will also give performances to the public on more than 120 small stages set up temporarily. The whole Hungary is immersed in the ocean of folk art.
